The Real Success Story: After graduating from John Hopkins with a degree in electrical engineering and soon after, an MBA from Harvard, he spent his early years in a bank called, Salomon Brothers in New York City—counting stocks and bonds in the banks vault.
Upon getting demoted to the information division several years later, he stayed loyal to the company and received a $10 million severance when the company merged with a commodity trading firm, Phibro in 1981. He used his severance pay to start his empire of financial software and media company, Bloomberg LP.
